A LARGE ROYAL VIENNA STYLE GILT AND POLYCHROME ENAMEL DECORATED PORCELAIN TWO HANDLED COVERED VASE ON STAND, PROBABLY GERMANY, CIRCA 1880-1900, the cobalt blue baluster form vase and domed cover with gilt acorn form finial over a band of leaves and interlaced decoration highlighted with white enamel "jewels," the neck with two-tone partially raised gilt band of acanthus lyres and rosettes set with white enamel "jewels," the body with three bands of jeweled two-tone partially raised gilt foliate decoration centering a hand painted scene of a young gowned lady bending forward to kiss a hand extended by a grey bearded monk, a young male with his hands clasped at his heart watches carefully, in a medieval architectural setting, signed at the lower right corner "K. Weh.," the verso with a classically gowned goddess holding a sand hour aloft in her right hand, the sides with shield form gilt handles, over a spreading socle base matching the cover, raised on a spreading drum form plinth with a two-tone partially raised gilt acanthus scroll and rosette band and four tapering stepped gilt feet underglaze blue "bildenshield" on underside of socle and plinth, with "Austria" in red enamel on plinth. In overall good restored used condition, with evidence of extensive rebuilding/restoration of the cover, now with crazing and spotting of the cobalt glaze; restoration to the top of the plinth; repaired crack on right handle; minor rubbing and loss to gilt decoration commensurate with age and use.
