Description
A GROUP OF TWO ANCIENT ROMAN COLORED GLASS UNGUENTARIUM, 2ND/4TH CENTURY AD, comprising a clear green glass double tube balsamarium with applied sinuous handles and ribbon trail, on a clear acrylic base, height: 4 1/2", width: 1 5/8", depth: 3/4"; and a green and purple fluted cylindrical flagon, the double swirled rim, over a tapered neck, above a tapered cylindrical body with partial fluting, flanked by a single green sinuous handle, on a clear acrylic base, height: 5 1/2", diameter: 2 3/4". Provenance: Estate of Laura Gerow Bramlette, heiress of Morton D. May and the Mays Department Store fortune.
Condition
Some soil and dirt debris,mild iridescence occasionally on purple example, some chips and breaks including losses on both, the purple example has a crack, but overall in good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
