Description
**Originally Listed At $400**

South America, Bolivia, Aymara people, early 20th century CE. This is a piece of South American folk art, a hand-carved wooden marriage bowl. In the center, carved from the same piece of wood, stands a pair of yoked oxen. Twin cylindrical handles, also from the same piece of wood, decorate the sides. Dishes like these are used to collect money for the new couple during the wedding reception. A pretty reminder of a traditional practice!
