Description
A Roman serpentine 4-sided prism, Egypt, 2nd - 4th Century AD, the sides depict a standing demon with the goddess Hekate opposite. The narrower sides depict a serpent and the Greek letters LA W. 17 x 10 mm. Carved from green-black serpentine and drilled lengthwise for suspension. Ref: Newell p. 543, no. 597. Ex California Museum of Ancient Art de-accession.
