Description
An attractive Egyptian faience beaded face mask, modernly strung. The beads are from the Late Period, c. 664 - 332 BC. The mask is comprised of these high-quality faience disc and tube beads with vibrant color, and has been modernly re-strung into the original, ancient configuration, with large eyes and wearing the beard of Osiris. 6 x 4 1/2 in (15.2 x 11.4 cm). Ancient masks of this form represented the face of the deceased and were attached to the facial area of the mummy, often part of an elaborate beaded shroud that covered the entire torso.
