Description
A rare Egyptian bronze human-headed cobra, Late Period, c. 664 - 332 BC, appearing to wear an Atef crown over a tripartite wig, as well as a false beard. This figure depicts an uncertain god or goddess, as a variety of Egyptian deities were often depicted as human headed with the body of a cobra. Nicely patinated with a few casting flaws. Likely intended to have been attached to a box or similar. H: 2 3/8 in (6.1 cm). Mounted on rectangular base. Ex London, UK collection acquired in the 1960's.
