Pair of Chinese southern officer chairs. The Back-rest is composed of an elegant S-shaped splat with a design on the upper portion, coupled with angular back-post. The curved arm rails bough outward to accommodate a larger individual. The frontal apron follows the anterior edge all the way down both legs. A rectilinear frame encloses a woven mat seat. The legs are joined by stepped stretchers and a footrest connects the front pilings. The HuangHuaLi wood is dense and has been expertly polished to give a glinting sheen as the light hits the surface. Some grain structures may be likened to the shape of ghost faces.
