Qing Dynasty Blue Underglazed White Porcelain Tianqiuping Longevity Floor Vase W/Yongzheng Reign Mark - This magnificent tianqiuping floor vase is of typical form, with a globular body that rises to a tall, cylindrical neck with a flared rim. The body of the vase is decorated in a vibrant cobalt blue underglaze with a longevity character in a floral blossom amidst a dense ground of peony scrolls, all above a band of leaf shaped panels followed by stylized crashing waves. The neck is painted in a matching fashion with crashing waves, auspicious characters among peony scrolls followed by further crashing waves. This exceptionally rare vase bears the six character Yongzheng reign mark in double circle in blue underglaze, a relatively short yet important reign which was associated with a period of artistic innovation. The lip is finished with a metal rim, as selected vessels were finished with rims of silver as early as the Han dynasty to set them apart from the ordinary and to make them suitable for high class clients, and to also protect them from damage. The interior of the lip is also decorated with a horizontal band of scrolled details, showing the highest attention to detail. Measurements (approximate): 25"H x 17"W.
