Description
A Tibetan Thangka of Yamantaka Vajrabhairava and Vajravetali with frame. Depicting the wrathful Yamantaka Vajrabhairava in ecstatic union with the consort Vajravetali. With his primary face of a buffalo and six faces surmounted by the head ofthe bodhisattva Manjushri. Thirty-four arms grasping ritual weapons and implements, with primary hands holding Kapala and Kartrika. Standing on lotus throne, having flames behind him. Both figures trampling underfoot a host ofcorpses and animals. Marks on the back of the Thangka: "Li Xi, 14-985 TK". Sight: 30 1/2" x 21 1/2". Frame: 34 1/2" x 25 1/4".
