Excelsior Works stoneware crock, marked to front â€œExcelsior Works, Isaac Hewitt, Jr., Rices Landing, PA, 5â€ (Isaac Hewitt, Jr. 1842 - died after 1920's), late 19th century between 1870 â€“ 1880's. Having salt glaze, cylindrical form with two applied lug handles, fine cobalt tulip and vine freehand decoration above and below, stamped "5" at front and back shoulder, turned rim, with cracks and discoloration. Rim measures 9â€ in diameter. All measurements are approximate.
