Description
VIN: 5554588 Mileage shown: 97,182
with a 80hp Ford flathead V8 from a 1950 model, and 3 speed manual transmission. 1940 saw a re-design from Ford and Eugene Gregorie. Its fenders were beautifully curved to complement the body contours. Also new was a popup cowl vent that provided interior ventilation in addition to crank out window shields. Both Deluxe and Standard body styles had front vent windows. Inside the new Ford was a noticeably new dash that featured rectangular shaped instruments. Styling highlights included sealed beam headlamps, a new horizontal bar grille and unique chevron tail lights.
This wonderful car underwent a complete restoration in 1980. It was attempted to use original parts where available, and the original flathead V8 was removed and replaced with an engine from a 1950 model. The distributor is on top and on the front for easier servicing. The car was painted in a deep burgundy exterior, and the interior was finished in burgundy seats with grey carpet and headliner. The original gauges and the Bakelite interior parts remain.
For this lot, payment accepted only by wire transfer. 15% Buyer's Premium for in-house, telephone & absentee bidding. 20% buyer's premium for live internet bidding. No sales tax.
Fully restored car, and garage kept since restoration; many original parts remain; car appears to be rust-free.
