Description
Red and black gouache on wove drawing paper, untitled abstract, pencil signed on the reverse* (Giuseppe Capogrossi, 1900-1972) and dated '63. 14 x 5 3/8 inches. Very good overall condition, having no apparent damage or repairs. Unframed for inspection and shipping.
Provenance: Private collection, Dallas, Texas. (Presumed to have been acquired by the present owner's family directly from the artist, circa early 1960's.)
Lot Note: See Preston Hall Gallery auction, February 25, 2014, Lot 26, for another work attributed to Giuseppe Capogrossi from this same collection. This work was subsequently authenticated by the Fondazione Archivio Capogrossi and was assigned archive number AC 339 G. It was resold on June 21, 2016, in Austria, for $9,070.
