Provenance: Acquired directly from the artist by the former owner, Mark Rosenberg, New York, now deceased. According to the consignor, whose family acquired the drawing from the latter, Rosenberg (or Rosenberg's father, it is unclear) knew the artist from the Cedar Street Tavern in New York City. Cedar Street Tavern was a favorite hang out for a number of avant garde artists in the 1940s and 50s.
