Description
WNEW LOUIS ARMSTRONG

This WNEW AM 1130 radio advertisement features Louis Armstrong and was produced in 1973. WNEW AM was New York's premier Jazz radio station in operation from 1934-1992. In 1973, WNEW commissioned a series of portraits of famous Jazz and Big Bands stars to announce the stations return to its earlier musical roots. The series includes Elle Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Mel Torme, Peggy Lee, and Louis Armstrong. Louis Armstrong (August 4, 1901 – July 6, 1971), was an American jazz trumpeter, singer, and an influential figure in jazz music. He was renown as an inventive trumpet and cornet player whose influence shifted jazz music towards solo performance. He was known for his good humored stage presence and unique gravelly voice, as well as a leading singer of scat. This is an Original Vintage Poster. It is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.
