Description
A wonderful schedule board made by J. L. Hammett in Boston. I can’t find reference to "Parker's Stage Line". This bard measures 9" by 25". It's two pieces (1) blackboard frame (2) applied board on top with NY&NE RR & Parker. This board would probably be mounted at a specific New York & New England Railroad depot. It would announce stage coach arrivals and departures for Parker's Stage line to what looks like 3 different destinations. The New York & New England Railroad existed from 1875-1896. In 1996 it ended up in the New Haven Railroad system. The Hammett company was founded in Rhode Island in 1863, moved to Boston in 1865 and existed right into the 1950s. They made school supplies, like this chalkboard. The sign still has original paint that also covers some of the original screws in the bac. The Hammett hallmark is tough to read. This is an unusual country item from Southern New England.
