Provenance: Property from the Estate of Nicholas de Belleville Katzenbach, Princeton, New Jersey.
Catalogue Note: In 1967 Alan Wood-Thomas was commissioned by the Justice Department to execute a portrait of Nicholas deBelleville Katzenbach, former Secretary of State to John F. Kennedy and Attorney General to Lyndon Johnson. The painting now hangs on the fifth floor of the Justice Department. His portrayal of Katzenbach was the first portrait of a high government official to break with tradition.
