Description

Keogh, Comanche and Custer Edward S. Luce No publisher or place given, but I believe this was published by the author. The address given by the author at the end of the Preface is Dedham, Massachusetts. Published in 1939. 1st Edition. Limited Edition. This is #423 of an unspecified number.Myles Keogh, George Armstrong Custer & Comanche, the horse that was the sole survivor of Custer's command. Frontis photo of Captain Miles W. Keogh and 11 plates. Quite a few letters and papers are reproduced in the text. This copy is inscribed, signed and dated by the author on the limitation page. 127 pages. Pages 83-127 are Appendices that include lists of all of those killed at the Little Big Horn Battle, as well as the names of those who survived the fight. A biography of Myles Keogh and George Armstrong Custer that includes records of their military service with the Seventh Cavalry and their deaths at the Battle of Little Big Horn in 1876. This is a very scarce Custer book.

Condition

This copy is square and tightly bound. VG-. Tight and clean interior. A little wear with small fraying at spine ends, & just a touch of fray at corner tips. Spine is darkened and the gilt spine lettering has dulled & faded, but is still all there, and is quite legible. Edges of text block are age toned & top edge has some shelf dust soiling. I have tried to show condition of the cover as well as I can in the photos.
