Description
1629 Holy Land Travel Guide Bible Geography Heinrich Bunting Itinerarium
Heinrich Bünting was a 16th-century Protestant preacher who spent his career ministering and writing in Germany. He is best known, however, for his illustrated work on the geography of the Bible, ‘Itinerarium Sacrae Scripturae’. The 1581 first edition features an impressive collection of woodcut maps and was extremely popular. Even without the maps, this work is considered the most complete survey of biblical geography. It also serves a secondary role as a travel guide for the Holy Land and Jerusalem.
