A blue and white tea bowl and two saucer bowls with scalloped edges and decoration of seascapes and borders. In the last decades of the Qianlong period (1735-95) England had started to print their porcelain with the Chinese patterns so much in vogue at the time, a much cheaper method than painting. The Chinese response was meticulous hand painting of the same detailed borders and sceneries, like in these export pieces.
