Provenance: Provenance: Galerie Jules Laforgue, New Orleans.
Notes: In 1981, artist and curator George Febres opened Galerie Jules Laforgue in the Faubourg Marigny. Febres named the gallery after his great uncle Jules Laforgue, a French symbolist poet that he greatly admired and found an inspiration. Febres featured the work of a young talented group of artists including Douglas Bourgeois, Jacqueline Bishop and Bunny Matthews who became known collectively as “Visionary Imagists.â€
