Pre-Columbian, Colombia, San Agustin, Horqueta-Primavera Period, ca. 600 BCE to 100 CE. A charming vessel with a round, squat body and a bowl-shaped lid. The four sides of the bowl rim have small projecting zoomorphic figures - possibly bats. The body of the vessel is carinated, with a lightly bubbled texture on the carinated edge and rim. The San Agustin culture contains a UNESCO World Heritage site with a huge complex of pre-Columbian stone monuments and tombs, burial mounds, agricultural terraces, and associated archaeological items including ceramics like this one. Size with lid: 8.75" W x 5.2" H (22.2 cm x 13.2 cm)

Lid has been repaired, with repairs well done and unobtrusive. Body is intact, with light encrustation, mostly in the interior.
