Description
This piece belongs for many years to an impressive European private collection, of rare and original Art Deco pieces. Famous and original rare hood ornament, made by the famous glass artist René Lalique (Fr,1860-1945). He deisgned it in 1928 and it's really used as a car mascot / hood ornament. This was in a time, people who owned a car, they had a personal driver. as well. It was in the 1920's very fashionable to have a beautifull designed hood ornament and a lot of artists made a small collection. Only the very rich could afford a real Lalique piece. In Musée Lalique in France, this Eagle head, officially called "Tête d'aigle" is also part of there small collection hood ornaments. René Lalique didn't made many. It's why they are very collectable. This piece belongs to a private European collection of rare Art Deco pieces. - Literature: F. Marcilhac; "R.Lalique 1860-1945, Maître-verrier, catalogue raisonné de l'oeuvre de verre", image and text on page 499. Les Éditions de l'Amateur, 2011. - The hood ornament is made of pressed glass, the glass is partly frosted and partly polished. The piece is signed with an embossed signature on both sides with 'R. Lalique' and 'France'. It's registered as model number 1138.

Condition
The birds head itselfs is in mint condition, but because it's extracted from the original holder there are a few flea bites and scratches at the bottom.
