ERLANGER COTTON BOND CONFEDERATE STATES OF AMERICA: The American Civil War Cut England and France off from Southern Cotton. Cotton Bonds were issued to Finance the War for the South and Offered an Exchange rate of CSA$5=1 PD Sterling=25 FF=40Lbs of Cotton. Problem Was the Cotton was FOB CSA and the US Navy was in the Way. Frederick Erlanger Infatuated wit the CSA's Ambassador's Daughter MATHIDE (Creole Beauty that she was) bought the French Share at 77% and tried to Sell it at 90%. Gettysburg got in the way of that. Most of the Bonds were destroyed in a 1960 Fire. This L200/5000Franc/8,000 lbs. Cotton Series C Coupon Bond in Very Good condition, Framed and Matted with Natural Cotton Boll and Photocopy of Original Advertisement to 25 1/2" x 30". (500-750)
