Description
Late Ming or early Qing Dynasty, 17th - 18th c., Four Tray Box with integral lid and base, from carved cinnabar lacquer, in the form of two offset squares overlapping at a corner, with nicely rendered opposing five claw dragons on the top, fortune mark at center, the sides with cartouches of scholar's tools and symbols of fortune, set into ivy fields, raised on quarter round bracket bases, with black interiors, 9" x 8 1/2" x 8 1/2". Professional restoration of broken pieces, some of top edge missing, along with portion of one side of one tray, several corners.
