Description
Two Victorian era wooden darning eggs. The first with hand carved concentric wavy lines around perimeter - the egg with 2 sections that screw together in the middle - the egg can be used for darning and for storing sewing items (threads, needles, etc.) - excellent condition; the second marked "The Columbian Egg" across the front of the removable lid - the front side also marked "Needle Case / Trade Mark" and the backside with a lithograph of the "Women's Palace" - note this is the Sophia Hayden Woman's Building at the Columbian Exposition held in Chicago 1893 (Chicago World's Fair) - the interior with a cylinder for holding needles and marked with instructions to remove needles from case (some needles still in cylinder) - it is in excellent condition. Both cases approximately 2.5"H x 1.5"W.
