Extremely Rare “Dutch Church of Upper Canajohary” Note
New York. February 4, 1793. One Penny. “Reformed Dutch Church of Upper Canajohary.” “Church-Money” Small Change Private Issue Note. Signed by “Jacob Maskell.” PCGS graded Very Fine-20.
This extremely rare New York small change, Private issue “Church-Money” note type is illustrated on page 308 of the current 5th Edition of “The Early Paper Money of America” by Eric Newman. “Printed by C.R. and G. Webster, Albany” it has extensive typset text with ornamental border design details on both sides. Jacob Maskell's signature is seen at bottom right signed as Treasurer. Holder states apparent minor rust stains, and there is some soiling on the reverse. A rare “Reformed Dutch Church of Upper Canajohary” note, lacking in most collections.
