Description
Mid 1800's butler tray. Elegantly shaped to fit against the body with two handles. The silver plated tray is beautifully engraved with cornucopias dripping with flora, fauna and fruit. Ribbon bows and a trellis pattern add to the details of the face of the tray. Along the border are intricate well developed floral patterns transitioning the design elements into the well articulated silver caste handles. The handles have a delightful design with lovebirds at the top of the handles and two cherubs holding cornucopias overflowing in little fruits leading back to the platter. The tray also features intricate floral etchings with the center of the tray devoted to an unusual engraved Persian rug motif. Measures 33" x 21". Marked Plated By Reed & Barton Wire Strengthened Pat 1867. Good to Fair condition with some distortion and plate wear to base. In house Hill Auction Gallery continental USA shipping $85 plus insurance.
