Description
Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A miniature human face with youthful facial features, donning a helmet or high, striated coiffure, skillfully cast via the lost wax (cire perdue) process - concave on the verso for fitting to garments or possibly horse fittings. A lovely piece with gorgeous green patina that has developed over the ages. Size: 1.125" H (2.9 cm); 2.25" H (5.7 cm) on included custom stand.

Condition
Tiny nick to edge of coiffure/headdress that is most visible when viewed from the back. Small area of abrasion/loss to upper edge of protruding section on verso. Beautiful green patina. Facial features and details of coiffure/headdress are still vivid.
