8th-6th century BC. A black stone scarab with details to the carapace; the underside engraved with a standing figure of a male wearing a loin cloth and holding a dagger, hand held up and supporting a Y-shaped object; below a large M-shape with papyrus plant below. 2.57 grams, 16mm (1/2"). Property of a London gentleman; acquired by his father in the 1970s; thence by descent.
