Two 19th century items of gem-set mourning jewellery.

Item Details

Description

Two 19th century items of gem-set mourning jewellery. To include a late Georgian coral and split pearl cluster brooch, together with a gold back and front turquoise and split pearl floral locket. Lengths 2.9 and 4cms. Total weight 17.6gms. Coral untested.

Condition

Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.

Glazed panel reverse of brooch is in good condition.

Coral untested for natural colour origin.

Coral are well matched, medium deep reddish-orange.

Coral are in good condition with some abrasion and minor surface indents.

Estimated dimensions of coral central panel 11.3 by 7.8mms.

Turquoise are well matched, medium greenish-blue.

Turquoise are in good condition.

Split pearls are well matched, creamish-white, with pink and green hues, in good condition, minor abrasions.
