Description

BEER STEIN COMMEMORATES THE OPENING OF AN S.A. RETREAT
Fine porcelain beer stein, approx. 6 Â½" x 4", bearing the inscription around the base: "To Remember the Consecration of the S.A. Home in Steinebach am Worthsee, 17. September [19]33". The stein is decorated with two color decal-applied scenes, the first showing an overall view of the retreat, with an NSDAP flag jauntily flying in the front yard,and the second showing the front door of the retreat flanked by two swastika-topped poles, with a poster featuring an SA man with a large NSDAP flag to one side. The name and address of the decorator, "R. Munzer Munchen Kaulbachstr. 2", is inscribed beneath the handle. The mark of the manufacturer Villeroy & Boch of Mettlach appears on the base, along with several additional incised marks. The stein is topped with a plain domed metal cover. Shows minor soiling, else very good.
