This antique Zere Khaki carpet showcases an Seirafian medallion known as Shamsa mean Sun, as well as a collection of traditional Persian detail elements such as Isfahani paradise birds, vases and deers, depicting the floral arrangements from the ‘Garden of Paradise’. A palette of traditional tones further emphasizes these design elements. All of these frame the field, which is impressively detailed and classically composed. The material used for base development is 100 Percent Cotton and weft is fine sheep wool known as kurk. The overall design composition of the carpet appears to be inspired by the 17th century ‘Gardens of the Shah’ known as Chahar Bagh.
