Condition
In good "as found" condition, exhibiting normal mars, abrasions and wear, most notably some dings on the edges of the top, filler at corner tips of the upper section, and some flaking degradation of the ebonized coved area just beneath the top.
There is a small veneer patch in the top, about 1/2" x 1". There is a darker stain, roughly 2" x 3".
The interior is lacking its writing slide. The lockset is missing.
The base appears to be sturdy and solid, with minimal surface rubbing and losses. There is a small area of
abraded stenciling at the front of the base, about 3/8" high and 1-3/4" long. Balance of the stenciled
decoration is in unusually good condition.
Two casters are detached from the base but present.
