Description

Pair of Empire-Style Giltwood and Marble-Top Tabourets

20th century, each with an inset circular marble top within a laurel-leaf-carved band, raised on three splayed imbricate-carved legs joined by a tripartite stretcher and ending in scrolled toes.
h. 20", dia. 18"

Condition

In overall very good condition. Both exhibit some scattered rubbing and small losses to the gilt surfaces. One with some flaking gilt and inpainting on the apron. Both are tight and sturdy with no movement noted at the juncture of the legs and apron. The marble tops appear to be later replacements. One exhibits a shallow flake along its edge, about 3/8" x 3/16".
