Description
Georges Remi (Belgian, 1907-1983) Attributed: Tintin and Snowy, Ink on Paper, Signed.

Born in Beligum in 1907, Georges Prosper Remi, better known by the pen name Herge, was a cartoonist best known for creating The Adventures of Tintin, one of the most successful European comics of the twentieth century. Prior to his commercial success in the 1930s, Herge held a variety of positions unrelated to comic writing but contributed the occasional illustration to scouting magazines. His first cartoonist job was with the newspaper Le VingtiemeSiecle, a conservative Catholic publication, where he created and advanced the character of Tintin.

This drawing is of Herge’s most identifiable subjects: Tintin and his pet companion, Snowy. Herve was known to create these quick drawings of Tintin and Snowy and signing them with a warm closing, “Amicalement” (friendly), “Cordialmente” (cordially), etc.
