Wool tapestry, "Lumiere d' ete," by Jean Picart Ledoux (1902-1982). Created for Galerie Robert Four. Signed. 39 1/2 x 66 inches. Very good condition.
Jean Picart Le Doux was the son of painter Charles Picart Le Doux (1881-1959). His earliest tapestries date to 1943. In 1947, together with Jean Lurcat and Marc Saint-Saens, he founded the Association of Tapestry-Cartonniers. His tapestries won numerous awards during his lifetime, which resulted in a number of important corporate and private commissions. His tapestries sell at major auction houses throughout the world.
