Front flyleaf inscribed in ink by the author Samuel Sloan to MISS ELIZABETH ROBINSON / WITH COMPLIMENTS / of SAMUEL STONE / MAY 19, 1863.

Sloan presents forty designs for cottages, villas and farm houses, along with essays on style, furniture, construction and landscape settings.
Profusely illustrated with full-page and textural engravings.

Dimensions: 9.5 inches long x 6.5 inches wide.
Condition: antique volume is bound in blind-stamped purple cloth with stamped lettering to spine. External handling and fading to covers, binding is cracked at half title page, no loose or ripped pages, all plates present, interior displays sporadic light foxing, general handling appropriate for age.
This was an important contribution to resettling of the West (USA).
