84 pp. With mounted cliipped newspaper articles by Irving Howe written for the Madison County Leader and Observer, of Morrisville, NY; 55 mounted photographs or real-photo postcards; 82 mounted color postcards; 2 mounted tintypes; 25 mounted illustrations clipped from various sources. 28x21 cm (11x8¼"), cloth covers, string-bound with a shoelace.

The Howe family escaped the snow-clad hills of New York State for the warmer climes of the Southwest and Southern California, with Irving Howe's impressions reported back to his home-town newspaper. Besides the articles, the travelogue is noteworthy for the many illustrations with color and real-photo postcards in addition to snapshots of New Mexico and Arizona (with many of Native American interest), the sights and scenes of the California Southland, and more.

Condition

Normal wear, paper within on which the material is mounted is darkening and getting brittle; very good overall.
