Description
1566 Holy Bible Biblia Sacra Vulgate Woodcuts Illustrated MAPS Lyon Vincent
An exceedingly rare mid-16th-century Vulgate Bible published by Antonio Vincent. In 1566, the same year this Bible was printed, Jean Frellon published an edition of Robert Estienne’s 1540 Paris Vulgate edition. These early Bibles are notable as being the first Latin Bibles to have the text divided into numbered verses (D&M 6136). This Vincent Bible is highly desirable for the inclusion of folding maps and in-text wood engravings. Illustrations in this Bible include depictions of the arc of the covenant and other Biblical relics.
