Description
Ancient Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, ca. 712 to 332 BCE. A cast bronze votive statue of the god of the Underworld, Osiris. He is depicted in his standing form, mummified, with his hands emerging from his wrappings to hold his scepter, shepherd's crook, and flail, representative of kingship, showing his close connection with the pharaoh and his role as Ruler of the Dead. He wears the Atef crown, the hedjet form flanked by ostrich feathers, a further sign of his kingship. This figure is in the same form as many of varying sizes, from pendants to monumental statues and was probably made to be owned by an individual worshiper and placed into a home shrine or altar. Size: 1.1" W x 3.05" H (2.8 cm x 7.7 cm); 3.6" H (9.1 cm) on included custom stand.
