A Moche Fine-line Stirrup Vessel
c. 100 - 700 AD
The body painted red-brown on cream in two bands with two figures facing one another, reversed positions in upper and lower section. One figure wears a peaked cap with a flower with long slender filament flowing out at front and a blade (tumi) form rising at crown; the opposite figure in a simpler headdress and spotted garment. The same couple depicted at top of body but this time both have a spotted garment. All bodies vegetal in form with human faces. The stirrup widely stretched to sides. Visible repaired breaks on stirrup, otherwise intact.
