Mid Century Don Swann (1889-1954) Etching "The Washington Monument and Snow". A special edition for O'omor & Flynn, Limted to an edition of only 300 this is number 34. Pencil signed, numbered and titled by the artist. In original period frame under glass, light tonig to mat, etchig is in good condition. Measures 12-3/4"x17"x1". Weight 2 pds. Don Swann was an important American printmaker. Known for his detailed depictions of colonial and Neo-classical American architecture, his artworks serve as both important historical documents and evidence of the technological and aesthetic advancements in the field of printmaking. Born in 1899 in Fernandina, FL, he was raised in Baltimore and went on to attend the Maryland Institute College of Art. Today, Swann's works can be found in the collections of the Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., and the Smithsonian Museum of American Art in Washington, D.C., among others. Swann died in 1954 in Baltimore, MD.
