BRITISH HISTORICAL NATURAL HISTORY VOLUMES, LOT OF FIVE, including Richard Owen, "British Fossil Mammals and Birds", 1846, Jan van Voorst, London, brown cloth boards, leather corners; Philip Henry Gosse, "The Romance of Natural History", 1861, stated "Second Series", James Nisbet and Co., London, impressed green cloth boards with gilt lettering and decoration; and John Wright, ed., "Buffon's Natural History of the Globe, and of Man; Beasts, Birds, Fishes, Reptiles, and Insects", 1831, Thomas Tegg, London, et al, blue cloth boards with applied paper label to spine.
Fair to good condition overall, corners bumped, covers with expected wear, some toning, particularly to spines, some with minor to moderate losses, particularly to the corners, one undescribed example with some tears to cover cloth at spine, interiors with expected toning, some scattered foxing/stains, some pencil notations or previous owners' inscriptions, Richard Owen example ex-library collection, and having some pages loose from binding but present, appears to be complete.
