Description
Nicholas Haydon turquoise rose quartz clock, 1930's. A cute piece by Edward Farmer-like decorator and designer Nicholas Haydon. Both men seemed to like taking Chinese pieces in the 1930's and incorporating them into ashtrays, clocks, etc for upper crust New York society types. Both firms operated in New York City and were prestigious companies that made and sold Chinese antique articles; jade, porcelains, and other luxury decorative arts. Here a 19th century turquoise carving of a boy decorates a rose quartz clock with gilt metal leaves. Very Art Deco and very Chinese influenced. 3"x 3"x 6".
