Description
The difficult part about expanding into Art is that I want to KEEP everything! An American artist specializing in Pop Art and Graffiti-style works borne from his days as a "Street Artist" in NYC. His spontaneous drawings started grabbing national attention and soon Keith Haring was doing commissioned works and large murals. His strange, emotive and almost organic figures, generally dancing or moving, became his signature. As an openly gay man, Keith Haring wanted his work to express more, to mean more. When his friend and noted contemporary artist Jean-Michel Basquiat died of an overdose in New York in 1988, he paid homage to him with his work 'A Pile of Crowns', (crowns were a very common theme in Basquiat's work). Keith Haring passed away in Feb. 1990 of AIDS-related complications, he was only 31 years old. This is a RARE, hand-drawn sketch by Haring in black marker, most original hand-drawn items available online aren't even priced - you have to call the gallery (see HERE). Haring continues to be one of the best selling Pop Artists of All-Time and this is an Excellent example of his work! Hand-signed lower right and measuring 10 3/8" x 7 5/8".
