The bunk beds show age appropriate surface wear, consistent with use over time. The finish appears to be original throughout. We found no repairs or restoration. There are pen marks and surface stains to the mattress platforms. There are light to moderate scuffs and abrasions throughout. There are small nicks and chips to the edges of the round openings that hold the tubes. There are gaps to the rubber trim around the edges of the tubes. The unit is sturdy and structurally sound, and is quite heavy once assembled. Regarding assembly: we estimate assembly time to be approximately two hours. In the photograph, the unit is not assembled correctly: 1) the vertical piece with the holes that form footrests is upside down, 2) the tubes should be switched positions. The tube that is intended to be on the top has original wood cross braces that could be attached at each end of the tube to keep a child from falling out of the opening.
