Up for auction is a seldom seen Omega 20m waterproof case with a pristine dial and caliber 23.4 SC T1.
From 1941 onwards, all gentlemen’s calibres 23.4SC produced by Omega saw progressive phasing out of the bimetallic balances. They were replaced with monometallic ones which were paired with self-compensating balance springs that where produced out of anti-magnetic alloys. This explains the whey some earlier models have the “anti-magnetic†inscription on the dials and other don’t.
The white dial has applied radium Arabic numerals that have turned a beautiful lime green. The silver skeleton baton hands are in the same condition and have a matching lime green patinaed lume. The outer minute track and Omega black script is super sharp. The red center seconds hand might be a replacement as information on this reference is scare but it looks the part.
Moving over to the factory polished stainless steel 31mm “boy sized†case everything is sharp and shows minimal signs of wear. The water resistant case, claimed to be 20m at the time of production in Omega marketing uses a lead gasket to accomplish this feat.
Fitted to a usually steel stretch bracelet signed Beniex that really suits the watch to a tee!Take not that the watch is not in working order, a service will be required to have a functional timekeeping watch.
