Description
Acquired in 1945 by Captain Don H. Hobick this collection has documentation stating these items are from Adolf Hitler's private dining room. As written in a letter to Hobick's wife, "We got this out of the Party H.Q. (headquarters) in Munich out of Hitler's private dining there and there was quite a bit of it there. I would judge about 100 pieces of everything and then there was some that wasn't so good. I thought if it had any value we maybe could sell it and let Hitler pay for part of our home." A small portion of the items collected are available today including (3) linen napkins with the Hitler logo embroidered in each corner, (2) small sterling silver spoons with the Hitler logo and what appears to be Hitler's personal salt shaker marked AH on the silver lid. These items are very rare and come with the original letter and envelope from Hobick to his wife. Also included are copies of letters Hobick sent to his family in an envelope from the War & Navy Departments plus a picture of silver acquired that has since been sold. Truly a fascinating piece of history. The letter does have some wear but it is still very legible.
