Vintage British Railway Enamel Sign, Southern region, Cycles Prohibited. Ralwayana. Vintage Railway Sign. Railway and Train Collectible. Vintage Enamel Signs. Vintage Enamel Bicycle Signs. A fully flanged British railway, Southern region enamel totem sign with original holes for hanging sign. Totem station signs were introduced by British Railways in 1948. The idea was to use the totem as the British railway logo on all equipment, giving each station sign a regional color. White lettering on a green background signifies that this totem sign was used on the Southern Region Railway. Some enamel missing on edges and minor surface scratches for age. Slight rusting on black enamel on reverse. Measures approx 30 inches wide x 18 inches tall x 1 inch deep.
