Plata Meneses soon distinguished itself by its exceptional quality and design, occupying from its beginnings a place of honour in the silver market. Proof of the excellency of its pieces is that in 1875 the company became "Supplier to the Royal House" of Spain. By the end of the XIX century, Meneses was exporting its unique holloware pieces to America and The Philippines. In 1910 Meneses earned the "Honour Distinction Diploma" at the Universal Exposition in Brussels, thus consolidating its international prestige. From the 2nd half of the 20th century onwards, Meneses concentrates its efforts in the production of table cutlery and silverware, leaving behind the making of religious ornaments that are recognized today as real masterpieces. In 1965 "Meneses Inox" is registered as trademark for the manufacturing of cutlery and holloware in stainless steel. Because of the firm commitment to excellence, special emphasis was placed on the quality control system and the sourcing of the raw material. Two new exceptional partners made possible this new initiative: the prestigious French firm Christofle and the silversmith Maltilde Espuñes. The three companies created then, " La Unión de Orfebres S.A.". Meneses Orfebres S.A., heir of Plata Meneses, continues to lead the highest range of the market, in stainless steel, silver-plated and sterling silver cutlery.
